The Endless Beauty of the Sea
Say, ˹O Prophet, ˺ "If the ocean were ink for ˹writing˺ the Words of my Lord, it would certainly run out before the Words of my Lord were finished, even if We refilled it with its equal." (Surah Al Kahf, Verse 109)

Every time I gaze upon the sea, my heart fills with an overwhelming amount of wonder and gratitude at this mesmerizing creation of Allah. The symphony of the waves as they lap on my feet, washing away the sand with the endless horizon encapsulating its scenery fills every corner of my soul with tranquility and a sense of fulfillment as I feel the brush of cool, moist air against my skin.
With each step along the shore, the soft, wet sand reminds me to feel and embrace the present moment carefreely.
The surge of energy running through my body when I am by the sea, fills me with happiness and positivity as if all of my worries melt away.
It is interesting biological fact that we all have in our veins the same exact percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea - whether it is to sail or to watch it - we are going from whence we once came ❤ - John F.Kennedy.
The sea, with its captivating beauty and endless, vibrant horizons serve as a powerful symbol of Allah's boundless creativity and power as my eyes stare at the waves dance in harmonic motion under the sun's reflection. It's vast, mysterious and ever-changing depths has always drawn me towards its depths.

What's more alluring is the fact how the sea changes into a palette of colors each expressing its own grandeur. At sunrise, the sea awakens with hues of pink and lavender kissed by the first light of dawn, reflecting Allah's infinite mercy and the promise of a new beginning, another chance to improve each day.
Going into midday, the sea shimmers with life and bubbling energy transforming into a blue, turquoise color as the sun shines it's brightest, showcasing the magnificent creativity of the Creator.
With the sunset brings in glow of golden and red hues, each wave catching the light of the sunset in its own brilliance instilling hope inside that as each day the sun sets it rises again the following morning.
As dusk approaches, the sea calms into purple and indigo with the moonlight fading it into a deep, serene navy, mirroring the vastness of Allah's wisdom and the depths of His all-encompassing knowledge.
Each change in the sea's color is not just a natural phenomenon but a manifestation of Allah's magnificent beauty, incomprehensible by the human mind.
Science has discovered that in places where the two different seas meet, there is a barrier between them, and they do not mix whatsoever. This barrier divides the two seas so that each sea has its own temperature, salinity, and density. The example of this is where Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean.
Allah (SWT) has revealed in the Quran 1400 years ago long before the modern science discovered that:
He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. (Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 19–20)
In another instance Allah says:
And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas [i.e. bodies of water], one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition. (Surah Al-Furqan, Verse 53)
The only question we are left to answer, is how could this fact be so accurately mentioned in any book dating back over 1400 years ago? This is nothing but a miracle and from one of the signs of Allah (SWT) for us to ponder upon.
The sea with its vastness and depth mirrors the boundless wisdom of Allah including all of the secrets unknown to man that lie within His creation. Taking this into account Allah mentions in the Quran:
Or (the disbeliever's state) like the darkness in a deep sea, covered by waves upon waves,1 topped by ˹dark˺ clouds. Darkness upon darkness! If one stretches out their hand, they can hardly see it. And whoever Allah does not bless with light will have no light! (Surah Nur, Verse 40)
Despite the vast technology and advancement of submarines, it has been researched that human beings have only explored 5% of the sea. We know more about the surface of the moon than the floor of the ocean.
One of the biggest challenges of ocean exploration comes down to physics. Dr. Gene Carl Feldman, an oceanographer at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, explains that the ocean, at great depths, is characterized by zero visibility, extremely cold temperatures, and crushing amounts of pressure.
"In some ways, it's a lot easier to send people into space than it is to send people to the bottom of the ocean," Feldman told Oceana. "The intense pressures in the deep ocean make it an extremely difficult environment to explore."
This calls us to acknowledge the boundless wisdom and power of Allah and to humble ourselves in front of our Lord accepting our own limitations as human beings.
The sea serves as a daily reminder of the greatness of our Creator who is the creator of the heavens and the earth and all that is in it. Each wave of the sea that crashes onto the shore carries within it the whisper of Allah's eternal presence, control over the sea and the promise of His infinite mercy.
