How much pain can a heart bear before it breaks apart?
How many tears must be shed before the Creator of the universe responds?
When the world has turned silent to the cries of the oppressed, the destructive bombs killing thousands, innocent children being orphaned and burned to death. As the nights keep growing longer into despair, in every heart there starts to echo a question :
"When is the help of Allah coming?"
In these moments of pain, rather than asking when will help come, what if we ask ourselves:
"Could it be that in these darkest moments, when hope is our only light, it is during such trials that the strength of true faith emerges?"
What if these moments are meant to test our steadfastness, to see if we still trust in Allah's plans and wisdom when everything seems bleak around us?
"Could it be that Allah's help is nearer than our minds can truly comprehend?"
For Allah says in the Quran:
Do you think you will be admitted into Paradise without being tested like those before you? They were afflicted with suffering and adversity and were so ˹violently˺ shaken that ˹even˺ the Messenger and the believers with him cried out, "When will Allah's help come?" Indeed, Allah's help is ˹always˺ near. (Surah Al Baqarah, Verse 214)
When the Pharaoh , the ruler of Egypt claimed to be God and called Prophet Musa (AS) a liar did Allah immediately destroy him ?
No.
When he was killing the male babies of the children of Israel did Allah immediately stop him from doing so ?
No.
How many thousands of babies were put to death at the Hands of him? For countless mothers, the moment of birth, was the very moment of mourning!
But,
When the people of Bani Israel were enslaved by Pharaoh and cried for help, did Allah not send Prophet Musa (AS) to remove them from oppression?
Yes.
When the believers in Abyssinia were persecuted and sought refuge, did Allah not provide them with a just ruler who protected them?
Yes.
When the companions of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) were tortured and oppressed, did Allah not assure them that their struggles would lead them to ultimate victory in Paradise?
Yes.
The stories of many babies were being put to an end but the story of Musa (AS) was unfolding.
Allah was All-Aware of what the Pharoah had been doing:
Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters. (Surah Al-Qassas, Verse 4)
But He further mentions saying:
But it was Our Will to favour those who were oppressed in the land, making them models ˹of faith˺ as well as successors; and to establish them in the land; and through them show Pharaoh, Hamân, and their soldiers ˹the fulfilment of˺ what they feared. (Surah Al Qassas, Verse 5–6)
These verses beautifully illustrate how those who face hardships are often chosen to become examples of unwavering faith and resilience.
Think of the people in Gaza, whose the hearts are facing unimaginable suffering yet continue to stand firm in their belief. They are not just survivors; they are beacons of hope in a world shadowed by injustice. Allah has chosen them to embody strength, transforming their struggles into sources of inspiration for others. They are, in reality, truly the blessed ones in this world and the next.
Allah may allow the disbelievers to spread corruption for a certain period of time and in His infinite mercy, gives them the time to turn back and repent for we humans have been given free will but when death would touch them, the sight of it will shiver their spines to the core and no mercy would be shown. The punishment of Allah will arrive, an inescapable one it would be and they would abide in it forever!
For Allah assures the believers saying:
Do not think ˹O Prophet˺ that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them until a Day when ˹their˺ eyes will stare in horror - rushing forth, heads raised, never blinking, hearts void. (Surah Al Ibrahim, Verse 42)
In these times, when the cries from Gaza reach up till the heavens, we must remember that their endurance will never go in vain. Just as the children of Israel were honoured by Allah after enduring immense suffering, so too will the people of Gaza emerge as successors in their continuous struggle for their homeland. In Sha Allah!
Indeed the help of Allah is near and so is peace and justice.
Before I conclude my article I humbly request to you , dear reader, to help a writer, just like and me, who is somewhere in Gaza struggling to survive. She is not alone, she has 7 members of her family alongside holding onto hope.
She doesn't need luxury, nor wealth all she simply wishes is to protect her loved ones from a reality that is too unbearable to describe in words.
Imagine the terror of sleeping each night and waking up each day, not sure if it's your last. The helplessness of watching children cry, your loved ones perish in front of you, with nowhere to turn.
The least we could do is help her out by donating to so that she may flee to safety with 7 members of her family. I plea to you, to please not turn away and donate, even if it's a small amount, your contribution really matters.
Jazak-Allah Khair !
